This Comedian Is Inserting Himself Into ‘Gilmore Girls’; Stealing Your Plan To Get On The Show
"Hey Netflix, if you need more actors on 'Gilmore Girls' I've been practicing sitting on a porch."
Later this year Gilmore Girls will finally get its proper send-off after a disappointing final season in 2007, and it’s safe to assume much will have changed in Stars Hollow. Both Lorelei and Rory will be a little older and perhaps even wiser. Though the rest of the main cast is signed on to be by their side, Melissa McCarthy’s Sookie St James is mysteriously missing. And, if they know what’s good for them, they’ll be phoning you up for a cameo after more than a decade of fan letters and expensive calls of deep, excited breathing down the international phone line.
To confirm the latter for himself, US comedian Benjamin Siemon has been doing some extra leg work. For the past couple of months, he’s been meticulously inserting himself into scenes from the beloved show and determinedly spamming the showrunners at Netflix.

“When I heard Gilmore Girls was coming back, it just seemed natural that I should try to make myself part of it,” he told Mashable. “But … I don’t have an acting agent, so I [had] to pursue that through unconventional means.”

Though Siemon doesn’t think of himself as an actor — he’s an improv teacher at UCB and currently has a small role in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend — he’s holding on to the hope that some casting director will eventually be impressed and/or take pity and throw him a single line in the show.
“That isn’t a joke,” he said. “I heard in coverage of the revival they might need a Man Who Never Smiles and that is definitely something I could do. Netflix, call me. Even if I could ask for a refill in Luke’s Diner, my dream would come true.”

Though Siemon’s been doing all this since early February, things have really kicked off in the last couple of days since Mashable wrote about him. With news spreading, it’s been confirmed that Rory has both seen his work and is very impressed with it.
