Tired of being part of the world’s various nasty, knotty problems? Want to put your boots on and be part of a solution instead? Have you got a super particular skill set that’s good for problem solving and do-goodery, but haven’t yet had the right place to put it to use?
All you need, as you tell your mum, is the time and space to develop it. And right now you have the opportunity to do exactly that.
Telstra is setting up an ‘Imaginarium’: an eight-week-long, Sydney-based summit of handpicked social crusaders and innovators, who will be given all the tools they need — technology, data, resources and mentors — to take an idea for change to full term.
It’s kind of like the Big Brother House, but instead of having insipid, self-involved, manufactured arguments and infatuations, you’d be connecting and collaborating with other like-minded people and expert mentors to try and make some meaningful social change.

How It Works
The Imaginarium takes place from September 18, and comes in three phases. In the first, from September 18-20, the 80 successful applicants will be portioned off into teams of five, to develop a raw concept. 15 people will advance to round two — the Idea Incubator — where they will refine their idea and get it ready for launch ahead of stage three: The Business Stage.
If you make it to the Imaginarium, you’ll get the time, space and know-how you’ll need to workshop ideas, learn design thinking, conduct research and gain some invaluable skills. You’ll work closely with a small team, where whatever you create together is shared between you. And you’ll get to network with and learn from some pretty big industry names. They even pay you a weekly allowance, as well as setting you up with accommodation, feeding you and providing bonus travel dollars for anyone outside Sydney.
If you want to use a skill or idea to create change in the world, Imaginarium wants you. You just need to be between 18-35 years of age, prepared to live in Sydney for eight weeks, and fully committed to getting your idea off the ground.
Monday August 31 is the last day before submissions close; apply here now.
