There’s probably some varying degrees in this statement, but it feels like after actors leave Saturday Night Live they either become The World’s New Best Wacky Friend (aka Will Ferrel, Tina Fey, Jimmy Fallon or Kristen Wiig), or they lead the life of Jim Breuer. …Who? Exactly.

Andy Samberg pretty much nailed the whole going-it-on-his-own route, releasing a new Lonely Island album with his best faux-rap buds, and landing the lead on the humbly hilarious Brooklyn Nine Nine (and an Emmy for his efforts to boot).

So it was a sweet victory lap that saw him back hosting the season finale of the show this weekend — and his goofing and spoofing vibe made for one of the better episodes of the season, bringing Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, Fred Armisen and Paul Rudd along for the ride.

The first digital short features Samberg as Euro EDM prodigy Davvinci, with some goofy jabs at DJ technique, a cameo from Indiana Jones, and a few seconds of stop motion animation. “It’s like Skrillex meets Michel Gondry” you might exclaim:

The next is a Lonely Island clip, with guest spot from Orphan Black‘s Tatiana Maslany and chorus by Pharrel. Argue with your cubical mate that Pharrel’s 48 seconds on this spoof song are much more musically interesting than the 347+ listening hours of ‘Happy’ that you’ve had to endure in the past month. Go on, get controversial!

And finally, watch Jay-Z and Solange make another statement to the public, explaining exactly what happened in the elevator by dubbing over the footage.

She was protecting him from a spider. By kicking him. Because she loves him. Like family.
