The Ten Best SNL Sketches of 2014
Stefon returns.
5. Matthew McConaughey
The internet got a real kick out of Jim Carrey’s take on Matthew McConaughey’s Lincoln ads on SNL. Game recognising game, Taran Killam resurrected his far superior impression just a few weeks later, eradicating all memory of Carrey’s comparatively pale imitation. (Fair warning: Killam’s McConaughey is a hard-core psychopath, to rival Andy Samberg’s howling mad Nicolas Cage.)
He joined lifetime hermano Woody Harrelson at the Weekend Update desk to ostensibly talk about True Detective’s second season, only to instead crow like the cock and replicate the Super Mario Bros theme tune. But real talk right now? Within that nonsense is some legit solid life advice, as with all Matthew McConaughey lectures. Listen up, kids. (Especially you, Mr. Stone.)
