Jack Nicholson

Carnal Knowledge (1971)

In an age of teen sext scandals, MRAs and international conference tours on the art of gaming women, it’s easy to forget that there have always been horrific jerks of men; angry and lustful and resentful and gross. Nichol’s Carnal Knowledge reminds us of this fact – alongside great performances by Candace Bergman, Ann Margaret And Art Garfunkel.

Nicholson, who has played the devil who knows how many times, turns in his darkest ever role in this decade-spanning portrayal of a modern day creep. It sounds horrible, and it is, but the film keeps you safely at arms length, even as you become complicit in the constant leering of this disgusting lech. Check out the Ballbusters on Parade scene, and then wash your face.
