In the forthcoming episode of The Simpsons, airing in America over the weekend, you’ll find a sweet and wistful tribute to Hayao Miyazaki — the famed animator, film-maker and head of Studio Ghibli, who announced his retirement in September last year.

The 90-second drunken sequence has just been uploaded, and features surreal nods to a bunch of Miyazaki classics: leaning heavily on Spirited Away (frog workers, Haku, No-Face etc), there are  also allusions to My Neighbor Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke and Kiki’s Delivery Service.
