It’s well known that Hafþór Júlíus “Thor” Björnsson, better known as the third and most memorable incarnation of Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane on Game of Thrones, spends any time he isn’t crushing Martell skulls on camera by being a professional strongman who can bend cast iron bars on his neck and pull two trucks at the same time.

Now it’s official — Björnsson has just been crowned Europe’s strongest man after dominating the appropriately-titled Europe’s Strongest Man contest, which was held in Leeds just over a week ago.

Here he is casually lifting 420 kilograms with his arms which, scientifically at least, bear some anatomical resemblance to the noodly growths protruding from your torso that get defeated by a well-sealed jar of jam.

He didn’t even win this event; the winner, Benedikt Magnusson, lifted 461 kilograms. That is how much a horse weighs. A man lifted a horse with his arms.

But Björnsson would go on to dominate in other terrifying categories. Here he is having just lifted six massive rocks onto six very high barrels, a feat for which he is genuinely known as “King of the Stones”.

Björnsson sealed his victory by lifting a whole lot of heavy shit into a truck, at which point he climbed on top of said truck and lifted his world-crushing arms like some kind of indestructible thunder god from a world without a son.

You can watch the highlights below, which include some very large men doing very scary things and Björnsson screaming “I AM THE FUTURE OF STRENGTH! I AM KING OF THE STONES!” into a microphone held by a tiny, terrified reporter.
