The First Teaser For Disney’s Live-Action ‘Jungle Book’ Is Here And Holy Crap, It Looks Great
You had us at Bill Murray as Baloo
There are so many reboots going ahead right now, that we’ve goofed and and double-booked The Jungle Book. With the 1967 classic animated film (based on the novel by Rudyard Kipling) ripe for reimagining, both Warner Brothers and Disney have jumped head first into the whole thing, and today we have our first look at the results from the latter.
Dragging the story into exciting live-action, this first Disney trailer from Ironman director Jon Favreau is going to be pretty hard to beat.
Premiering to a standing ovation at the D23 convention last month, the new clip shows newcomer Neel Sethi star as Mowgli in a far less cuddly version of the children’s tale that seriously amps up the drama. It also gives us our first real look at Scarlett Johansson’s enchanting (and only somewhat terrifying) Kaa.

Not at all like this.
In case you missed the casting announcements last month, this is just one of many big names on board:

Idris Elba

Ben Kingsley

Christopher Walken

Bill Fucking Murray.

Lupita Nyong’o and Gus from Breaking Bad. Watch ya back, Mowgli.
Warner Brothers’ version will be equally as exciting with Cate Blanchett as Kaa, Christian Bale playing Bagheera, and Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan. It should also be technically impressive with performance-capture expert Andy Serkis (Gollum from Lord of the Rings) starring as Baloo and running the whole thing as director.
But still. Between the spectacle of seeing this little dude parkour his way around the jungle in 3D, and the promise of Bill Murray at some point singing ‘Bare Necessities’, Disney may have it in the bag.
