Struggling writer Marty (Colin Farrell), seeking inspiration for his screenplay Seven Psychopaths, gets entangled in the idiotic dog-ransoming antics of his friend Billy (Sam Rockwell) and Billy’s friend Hans (Christopher Walken). But these two idiots pick the wrong dog to kidnap – Bonny, a shih tzu beloved of gangster Costello.
