Ahhh, now that’s more like it. If you’re going to go Oz-apocalyptic, you need an Australian cattle dog. This one was known only as Dog; the fan film Mad Max Renegade explores how he met Max. The dog that played Dog was rescued from a local pound, and was so scared of the Pursuit Special’s loud engines (at one point urinating in the movie’s famed V8 muscle car) that he was fitted with special earplugs. Spoiler alert: nobody dear to Mad Max is ever allowed to live. But offscreen, Dog got a happier ending – he was adopted by the film’s stunt coordinator.
