This alfresco sculpture exhibition has provided Sydneysiders with a reason to go outside for 22 years now, so you know it must be doing something right. Marvel at over 100 sculptures made by artist from Australia and around the world, all while breathing that fresh sea air along famous Bondi to Tamarama coastal walking track. A more picturesque Sunday afternoon doesn’t exist, we bet. November 4 is the last day of Sculptures By The Sea, so get in while you can.

Everyone knows that a perfect spring day practically screams for a road trip to somewhere a bit prettier than your mate’s lounge room. Cook, author and maker of the world’s greatest pate, Maggie Beer, is the brains behind this idyllic brunch spot, just an hour’s drive from Adelaide. Fill up on seasonally-inspired dishes at The Eatery before spending all your hard-earned cash on goods from Maggie’s Farm Shop to take home. You’ll regret nothing.

Got a spare tenner left over from Saturday night’s outing? Be a hero and shout your mates a game of barefoot bowls at Methyr Bowls Club, an iconic riverside location primed for making the most of the Brisbane spring sun.

Here, you can rub shoulders with the Methyr bowls elite (they’ll be able to give you and your crew some pointers, if you ask nicely), go for a bowl, and enjoy something from the reasonably priced menu afterwards. Oysters and chicken Kiev, anyone?

Hobart: Farm Gate Market

Veggies plucked straight from the earth, coffee beans harvested and roasted at the farm down the road, bags of walnuts from 100-year-old trees – Farm Gate Market, or Meville Street Market, as it’s more commonly known, is a food enthusiast’s haven. There’s olive oil, cool-climate wines, boutique distillery spirits, baked goods (both healthy and not), mustards and preserves and pantry staples.

Everything sold here can be eaten, but we recommend saving your appetite for whatever stall smells the best on the day – the haloumi burgers will be hard to go past.

Perth: Japanese Film Festival

Fancy downing a dose of stirring world cinema with all your best friends? Sure you do! This weekend, the Japanese Film Festival delivers some of Japan’s best cinematic exports straight to the eyes of those who call Perth home – and the furthest you have to travel to take it all in is Event Cinemas, Innaloo.

Anime fans, don’t go past Detective Conan: Crimson Love Letter, an action-packed adventure story about a prodigy child detective solving a crime at a card tournament. If drama is more your thing, make a beeline for Yakiniku Dragon, which deals with the Korean migrant experience in Japan. And if you just want to watch a film about love and table tennis, Mixed Doubles is on at 7pm.

Sunday is the last day to get your Japanese cinema fix, so book your tickets now.

After a long day battling crocs for a spot in the queue at the local pub, the natural way to unwind for most Top Enders is to peruse the Mindil Beach Sunset Market. Food is the main game here – there are over 300 stalls to choose from, bringing the flavours of Thailand, Sri Lanka, Greece, Portugal straight to Mindil Beach. Add to that a scattering of arts and crafts stalls with handmade jewellery, Indigenous wares, and tie-dyed clothes, which are actually compulsory wardrobe additions if you’re in Darwin.

If you’re harbouring an obsession for mid-century furniture or you’re a secret Antiques Roadshow fan, Canberra Antiques Centre is your literal dreamscape. It’s been open since 2003 and it’s rarely missed a vintage  poster or a Mad Men-era Parker lounge since. Is it reasonable to spend your entire pay cheque on a bed side table? Yes, yes it is.

Follow it up with a visit to Landspeed Records for second-hand vinyl, Blondie tees and all the leather jackets you could ever want.
