Stormzy Went Back To His Primary School And Was Absolutely Grilled By A Bunch Of Kids
"Why don't you like wastemen? They come every Wednesday and they do a good job."
UK grime royalty Stormzy has had an absolutely mammoth year. The 26-year-old British rapper’s headlined Glastonbury; ‘Vossi Bop’ was everywhere, and he’s just released his second studio album, Heavy Is The Head, to mass acclaim.
Despite how busy he’s been, Stormzy managed to find some time to visit his old primary school, Kensington Avenue, to get questioned by a bunch of curious 8-year-olds — organised by Noisey.
The year three class sat with Stormzy and proceeded to ask questions in the way only kids can – aka bluntly, with absolutely no filter. The class managed to touch on a range of topics, from Stormzy’s hatred of “wastemen” all the way to his definition of a ‘peng ting’.
In his candid chat with the kids, he managed to spit some inspiring words. After they asked how he became a celebrity, Stormzy imparted some wisdom: “You should never want to be a celebrity. You should want to do something you love that will make you a celebrity.”
Stormzy was then interrogated by one girl with gripes about his wastemen. In what was arguably the best part of the whole interview, the little girl asked: “Why don’t you like wastemen? They come every Wednesday and they do a good job.”
“I like those men who come on Wednesday who take your waste,” Stormzy laughed. “The wastemen I’m talking about are… the people who waste your time.”
Twitter user @RaayMysterio uploaded a clip from the interview claiming that it was his niece who asked the question. The snippet went viral on Twitter, with people calling the children’s innocence and Stormzy’s interaction with them the “purest thing on the internet right now“.

Cheekily, the kids even managed to sneak in a question about Stormzy’s thoughts on England’s current Prime Minister, Boris Johnson. The boy, who was obviously addressing Stormzy’s iconic “fuck the government and fuck Boris” line from ‘Vossi Bop’, got an age-appropriate answer.
“Boris is, he’s a very, very bad man,” Stormzy said. “You know like the big bad wolf? He’s gonna come down and blow your house down.”
“That’s why we don’t like Boris,” he concluded.
Ah, Stormzy. Never change. Watch the full video below.
