Don’t worry about family, your wallet, or your waistline — instead, just nestle up on the couch, and watch the hell out of some original content.
So, here’s our complete round-up of the originals coming to Stan over the holiday season.
The Commons
From one of the masterminds behind new Australian classic The Code, The Commons is an eight-part series set in a near-future world ravaged by climate change. Dark and dystopian, the series imagines a society pushed to the very brink of collapse — so uh, not one very different from our own. Think These Final Hours or The Rover and you’re in the right vicinity.

The Gloaming
The last few years have seen Australian television crime shows go from strength to strength, as the genre has expanded and experimented with itself. That’s set to continue with The Gloaming, a new murder mystery created by one of the talents behind The Kettering Incident. A brutal crime from the past draws two traumatised detectives into the orbit of a killer — and things only get more tense from there.

True History of The Kelly Gang
A bizarre, subversive take on one of Australia’s most mythic tales, True History of The Kelly Gang received rave reviews when it premiered at the Toronto film festival. Jumping between the childhood and young adulthood of Australia’s most famous bushranger, the film slowly builds to an apocalyptic climax, a strobed serve of pure visual mayhem.
When you can watch it: In cinemas from January 9, on Stan from Australia Day
The Other Guy
Matt Okine‘s gentle dramedy returns for a second season. And this time, the thing’s gone meta. Yep, The Other Guy is still a look at relationships and heartbreak, but this time, Okine and his crew have thrown fame and celebrity into the mix, crafting a self-reflexive triumph that’ll have you laughing and shedding a tear or two.
