Sorry Everyone, Looks Like The Spice Girls Won’t Be Touring Australia
Stop right now.
It seems like The Spice Girls’ heavily hinted 2020 Australian tour won’t happen, with The Daily Telegraph and other outlets grabbing ‘insider’ reports that Ginger isn’t keen.
According to the Tele‘s insider, Geri Horner (née Halliwell) is out because she “doesn’t need the cash” — which makes sense, seeing as she’s spent the good part of the decade hopping around the globe judging various reality TV competitions.
While there hasn’t been any official confirmation from the group, it’s another kick in the guts for local Spice Girls fans, who already had whiplash after Mel B announced the group were coming next February — only to walk back her comments a few days later. On stage at the group’s final UK concert at Wembley Stadium, Mel B told the crowd: “We love you all so much, and we’ll see you in Australia next February.”
She then told 2DayFM Breakfast that she had jumped the gun.
“Well, you know what, you know me by now,” she said. “I always say The Spice Girls are going to continue and continue and tour the world.”
“My thing is — and I’ve got a bit of a bee in my bonnet about it — is that we need to come to Australia first… so I announced it on-stage, yes, without everyone else signing off 100 percent, but I figured if I put it out there, it might actually happen.”
The Spice Girls have never toured Australia, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to be changing anytime soon.
