Skrillex’s First Single In Two Years Is A Wild And Gritty Departure
Hook it to our veins.
Skrillex has returned with his first new single in two years and folks, it’s a good one.
‘Midnight Hour’ follows the Poo Bear collab ‘Would You Ever’, which dropped back in 2017. The track shot up the charts but left fans a little disillusioned, who felt that Sonny Moore was maybe, kinda, definitely, phoning it in. Today’s ‘Midnight Hour’ should allay fans’ fears — it’s a warped, R&B infected house track that’s destined for the grimy club floor.
Moore cut the single with Dog Blood partner Boys Noize and Ty Dolla $ign; it’s the third time this year Sonny Moore and Ty Dolla have collaborated. They released a joint remix of Lykke Li’s ‘Two Night’s in July, and teamed up alongside Lan, TroyBoi and Ludmilla for ‘Malokera’.
It’s been a typically busy year for Skrillex — he dropped the Dog Blood EP Turn Off The Lights back in June, and has spent time in the studio with everyone from Ed Sheeran to Camila Cabello to FKA Twigs and The Weeknd. He’s been dropping snippets of new tracks in his live sets over the last few months — giving us every reason to expect more new music in the future.
For now, listen to ‘Midnight Hour’ below.
