“Hey Bob, you think you can make any more noise with the dolly, you creaky motherfucker?”
Director Tom DiCillo found the experience of making 1991’s Johnny Suede so frustrating, he made an entire film about how frustrating it was. In Living In Oblivion, Steve Buscemi plays director Nick Reve, a man frustrated by the constant interruptions to his vision by inept crew-members and egotistical actors. The blurring of autobiography and dramatic licence is always tough, and DiCillo has spent the intervening years insisting that the Brad Pitt-esque lead actor, Chad Palomino (James LeGros) is not in fact based on Brad Pitt, who, um, starred in Johnny Suede.
