Serena Williams Was Pregnant When She Won The Australian Open, What Have You Done Today
The greatest.
Back in January, when Serena Williams beat her sister Venus in the Australian Open and won her 23rd Grand Slam, Serena Williams was pregnant.
When Serena Williams won 6–4, 6–4 on that warm Melbourne night, she had a fetus growing inside her body. As she sprinted across the court, muscles heaving as she catapulted tennis balls with all the strength and might of a cannonball hurtling across the sky, she was also continuing the human species.
Serena Williams can win a Grand Slam and gestate a baby at the same time. Serena William is good at multitasking.
In a since-deleted Snapchat, Serena took a selfie in a bathing suit with the caption “20 weeks”. The internet was ready. The internet was overjoyed.

Since then, her spokesperson has confirmed that she and her fiance (aka the luckiest man on earth) Alexis Ohanian, are expecting their first child this year. This also means that Serena Williams and Beyoncé will be having babies in the same year. I can’t think of a better ‘Things Are Gonna Get Better’ omen than that.
We’re so blessed.
Sometimes it feels like there’s so much bad news out there that you might drown in it. Some days it feels like turning on your phone and checking social media is an invitation to feel bad about the world, the chaos swirling around us, yourself. But then sometimes you hear that Serena Williams is having a baby, and for a moment you feel good as hell.
Because nice things happening to legendary people is real cool.
Can't wait for 53-year old Serena and her kid to win the 2034 Wimbledon doubles title (mixed doubles if its a boy)

Serena Williams' baby and Beyoncé's twins might be the Harry, Hermione and Ron we need to vanquish Tangerine Voldemort.

Serena Williams was pregnant when she won her 23rd grand slam tournament at the Australian Open. And did not drop ONE SET. Let that sink in.
