It’s September! Spring is in the air, the sun is shining, birds are singing. What a perfect time to close the blinds and watch some TV.

It’s almost as though Netflix knows that school holidays and university breaks are coming up, because this month they’ll be dropping an absolute romper of a line up on the platform. Here’s what to expect

TV Shows

BoJack Horseman, Season 5 (14 September)

This season will see lonely horse BoJack starring in a detective series created by Princess Carolyn. But will BoJack survive the ordeal without his personal struggles coming back to bite him?

We don’t know. Seriously, we have absolutely no clue — there’s barely even a trailer for this one yet.

American Vandal, Season 2 (14 September)

What could be the greatest TV show to have ever graced the small screen is coming back for round two. Documentarians Sam and Peter may have solved the dick crisis that plagued their high school, but now they’ve got a new challenge: the Turd Burglar. This season looks like it will be set in a pretentious private school and we cannot wait.

Maniac (21 September)

Maniac is a Netflix-produced limited series starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. It’ll track two strangers who sign up for a mysterious pharmaceutical trial. Great. I’m sure everything will go to plan.

The Good Place, Season 3 (28 September)

Your irregular fix of mindforking television ethics is back. Season 3 has a lot of questions to answer. Are Chidi and Eleanor actually back on Earth, or is it all just a complex simulation? Where are Tahani and Jason? What’s the deal with Janet at the end of Season 2?

Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Season 5 (28 September)

After being cancelled, and then revived, Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 promises to be emotional before we’ve even become invested in a storyline or new character developments.

Season 6 doesn’t exist yet, but Netflix is putting up Season 5 so you can give yourself a refresher before the new eps debut. Nine-Nine!

Marvel’s Iron Fist, Season 2 (7 September)

OK, look, Iron Fist hasn’t had the best reception. Here was another standard superhero who could… punch things. Season 1 didn’t make much of a splash, but we’ve got reason to believe that Season 2 could be an improvement. First of all, the trailer isn’t that bad. And secondly, could it get any worse?

Films

Justice League (14 September)

DC’s response to the Marvel dynasty will be up on Netflix halfway through the month, just in time for you to rewatch it before Aquaman comes out. I guess if you want a break from rewatching Avengers movies this one’s a good option.

The Disaster Artist (28 September)

Tommy Wiseau’s legendary film The Room (which is not on Netflix, sadly) inspired an almost-as-legendary tribute film — The Disaster Artist. The film, which tracks how The Room was conceived and created, sways between absolutely hilarious to heartwarming. It’s good. Watch it.

Hold The Dark (28 September)

This Netflix original (featuring Alexander Skarsgard and Riley Keough) is about a mystery in an isolated part of Alaska: children keep dying and it has something to do with a roaming pack of wolves. It’s guaranteed to be grisly.

Mean Girls (Already Out)

It’s September, which means it’s almost Christmas, which means it’s the perfect time to a watch a movie that can almost be considered a Christmas movie. The cultural icon Mean Girls is out on Netflix are you are legally required to rewatch it.
