Slay, Belles: Your ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Favourites Are Competing In A Xmas Spectacular
Will Shangela's fourth time competing see her snatch the crown?
Between the arguable rigga-morris of All Stars 3 and the explosive then kind of dull Season 10, we’ve seen a whole lot of RuPaul’s Drag Race this year. And now, there’s more: eight queens shall be returning for a one-off seasonal spectacular to compete to become American’s first coronated Drag Race Xmas Queen. Sure!
RuPaul’s Drag Race Holi-slay Spectacular will see the queens perform a series of dances and lip-syncs to RuPaul’s Xmas albums, Slay Belles and the upcoming Christmas Party — nothing from the 1997 Ho Ho Ho, apparently, which is maybe too deep of a cut.
Todrick Hall is returning to choreograph/yell mean things, while the judging panel will have old faithfuls Michelle Visage, RuPaul and Ross Matthews deciding who reigns supreme.
But who are the queens? Well, Sonique and Latrice Royale represent the show’s early years, but mostly it’s filled with recent additions to the Drag Race queendom. There’s the famously uncoordinated Kim Chi, Eureka O’Hara, meme queen Jasmine Masters and gone-too-soon Mayhem Miller, so hopefully, she’ll be able to prove herself to a bigger audience.
But we’ve buried the lede: the show might serve as an addendum to All Stars 3, as champion Trixie Mattel and controversial runner-up Shangela return to compete. This marks the latter’s fourth time competing on the show.
The special will stream on Stan on December 8. May the best Christmas queen win!
