Netflix’s Queer Eye is one of those rare reboots that has managed to create a distinct voice all of its own.

Unlike the original, which was an entertaining — if slightly hammy — piece of pop culture that highlighted the differences between the LGBTQI and cis/straight communities, Queer Eye is all about exploring the things that make us the same, not the things that divide us.

It’s also, of course, a show with an almost aggressive desire to make literally anyone who sits in front of it for less than ten minutes bawl their goddamn eyes out. Episodes don’t so much pull on your heart strings as they do wrap a tow truck around them, and the parade of beautiful, genuine people who simply need to spend a little more time on self-care is enough to have even the stoniest of watcher crying great rivers of empathy and warmth.

Well hey, guess what — because the formula ain’t broke, Netflix hasn’t fixed it, and by the look of the trailer for season four, Queer Eye is going to remain stridently moving.

Of course, none of the other staples of the show have been messed with either, so expect the Fab Five to return in their usual roles, from Mr. Antoni “Can He Even Cook Anything That’s Not Avocado-Based” Porowski, to Mr. Tan “Secretly Everyone’s Favourite” France, to Mr. Karamo “Beautiful And Under-Recognised” Brown, to Mr. Bobby “Thanks For Showing Up I Guess” Berk, to Jonathan “Way Too Into Cops IMHO” Van Ness.

Queer Eye returns to our screens on July 19. Watch the trailer below.
