Oh, Boy: There Are A Bunch Of ‘Hunger Games’ Theme Parks Currently In The Works
No word yet on whether or not patrons will have to slaughter each other to get inside.
While everyone — yes, everyone — is freaking out over the upcoming release of the newest instalment of the blockbusting Hunger Games film franchise, Mockingjay Part 2, fans are also hyperventilating over some other pretty big news: the series is getting its very own theme parks.
According to the New York Times, Lionsgate Entertainment intends to build two theme parks — one in Macau, and one in Atlanta — based around the dystopian world, with the potential to lease individual rides to existing parks. (Of which, let it be known, Australia has many.)
So if all goes to plan, you should soon be able to ride a roller-coaster over the Capitol, pose for photos with President Snow and slaughter your peers in a violent game watched live by the masses! Wait, not the last one.

Do *you* come with the park?
The theme park deals also include zones for other film-related attractions based around Step Up, Divergent, Now You See Me, and possibly Twilight. But, come on — what possible scary rides could they bring? An Edward-narrated tour of Bella’s bedroom? Yeah, nah.
Plans haven’t been totally set in stone yet, and completion is obviously years away anyway, so please put down the credit card. You can, however, start planning your trip to Lionsgate’s $3 billion entertainment complex, Motiongate, in the United Arab Emirates, which features a District 12 and roaming costumed characters, and which will open as early as next year.
Lionsgate is set to earn at least $100 million from its existing parks alone over the next few years — and that doesn’t even include the sales made from tacky overpriced souvenirs. As The Atlantic explained, the parks are also a way to secure alternative revenue for the near future, when DVDs are obsolete and everyone continues to fervently insist on watching things for free. Film-related rides are the future, people. Get on board.
