New Zealand’s minister for women went to hospital on Sunday to be induced ahead of the birth of her first child. And in what might just be the ultimate baller move, she chose to ride there on her bike.

The 42-week pregnant Julie Anne Genter posted on Instagram Sunday morning that she was on her way to Auckland City hospital.

“Beautiful Sunday morning for a bike ride, to the hospital, for an induction to finally have this baby,” she wrote. “This is it, wish us luck!”

Genter added that she and her partner rode their bikes to the hospital “because there wasn’t enough room in the car for the support crew”. And maybe I’m being old fashioned, but surely someone in that car could have given up their seat?

In addition to being minister for women, Genter is also the country’s associate transport minister and is a big cycling advocate. And I gotta say, it’s pretty refreshing to see a politician who practices what she preaches. I’m especially impressed since I can barely operate a bike at the best of times.

Genter will be the second member of New Zealand’s parliament to have a child this year, with Prime Minister Jacinda Arden having recently returned from maternity leave after giving birth to a baby girl in June.
