Nearly six months after being released from prison on federal charges of tax evasion, Ms. Lauryn Hill — the eight-time Grammy winner, former lead singer of the Fugees, and mastermind behind your favourite multi-platinum album of 1998 — has been announced as a headliner of Vivid Live.

The tour was made possible by a U.S. Magistrate Court Judge, who allowed Hill to postpone a year of supervised release (including three months of home confinement) under the condition that all travel details are pre-approved by her probation officer.

It will be the first time Hill has headlined a show in Australia, and Vivid is promising a theatrical set that will “revisit a songbook that changed music forever”; you can also expect a few of her new singles, and maybe a Beatles cover too.

She joins Anna Calvi, St. Vincent and James Vincent McMorrow as the new additions to a Fergus Linehan-curated lineup that already featured the Pixies, Giorgio Moroder and the Presets.

Lauryn Hill will be playing May 27 and 28 at The Sydney Opera House, with tickets starting at $79 and going on sale on March 31. No other Australian tour dates have been announced. Yet.
