If you’ve been sitting down in Melbourne wishing and waiting for a festival to help ring in the New Year, your dreams have come true.

New Years Day January 2019 will see the launch of The First, a brand new festival spearheaded by the legends behind Hardware and Piknic Electronik. They’re kicking proceedings off with a bang, having locked in M.I.A, Action Bronson, techno don Nastia, and homegrown heroes The Presets to headline the first instalment.

There’ll also be sets from Banoffee (who’s spent the last few months on tour with Taylor Swift), Bloody Mary, Bob Moses, Max Cooper, and more. Check out the full line-up below.

The First will take place at Sidney Myer Music Bowl on January 1. Pre-sale tickets will go on sale September 12 (you can register here) while general tickets will be available to snap up on September 13.
