Mark Humphries has some advice for the growing list of politicians calling it quits ahead of the federal election.
In his latest sketch for the ABC’s 7.30, the comedian presents a guide for politicians who’ve decided to leave the exciting world of Canberra behind them — “and hopefully not in the Harold Holt sense”.
“As a politician, you’ve made a valuable contribution to public life… possibly,” Humphries says. “Rest assured, you can make another meaningful contribution to public life. Or you can join some bullshit board. The options are limitless.”
“I know the idea of a retirement home for politicians might sound unappealing, but have you heard of an assisted living facility called Sky News?” he adds.
“Above all, retirement is the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind, and take a massive shit on your former colleagues.”
