Love it or hate it, you’d be hard pressed to deny that Love Actually has burrowed its way into the collective pop-culture consciousness. Like a tic. Or some kind of fungus. Point is, buzz has been building about a sequel for a while now, and today we finally got confirmation. Sort of.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a number of cast members from the original film, including Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Bill Nighy, Rowan Atkinson and Andrew Lincoln, will indeed reunite with director Richard Curtis for a ten-minute followup. The short film will air on television in the UK and the US on Red Nose Day (May 25).

“I would never have dreamt of writing a sequel to Love Actually, but I thought it might be fun to do 10 minutes to see what everyone is now up to,” said Curtis. “We hope to make something that’ll be fun — very much in the spirit of the original film and of Red Nose Day — and which we hope will help bring lots of viewers and cash to the Red Nose Day shows.”

I’ve gotta say, it’s a lot harder to feel angry about this when you realise they’re raising money for a children’s charity. Well played Curtis. Well played.
