Kylo Ren would suck to work for.

One of the most compelling things about The Force Awakens was the main antagonist, Kylo Ren: supremely powerful Force user, villainous First Order commander hell-bent on ruling the galaxy and destroying everyone in his way, and a bit of a baby.

Instead of being an inscrutable, po-faced, emotionless villain like No Country for Old Men‘s Anton Chigurh, or a suave, evil mastermind like Die Hard‘s Hans Gruber, Kylo is a whiny kid with daddy issues who has a huge sook when things don’t go his way. He had more tantrums in his time on-screen than I did as a five-year-old when my Nutella privileges were revoked for leaving the fridge open, and that is a lot of tantrums.

Kylo’s sookier side wasn’t accidental; it’s a deliberate part of his character, played to perfection by Adam Driver, otherwise best known for playing another pouty manchild on Girls. When Driver hosted the first SNL of 2016 a couple nights ago, it was only logical to wheel out Sooky Kylo and turn his propensity for tantrums up to 11, and in the ‘Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base’ sketch that’s exactly what he did.

On another note, embracing the Dark Side seems like a terrible life choice if you don’t have Force powers and a cool lightsaber. Kylo Ren would suck to work for.
