Remember When Justin Bieber Said He Was Gonna Kill Deadmau5 While On Tour In Sydney?
"Deadmou5 [sic], I will kill you!"
For at least a decade, Justin Bieber has been the heel of the American pop industry.
From spitting off a balcony to giving the world’s tetchiest deposition, the singer indulged his ‘bad boy’ persona for literal years, presumably as a way of shedding the baby-faced image foisted onto him when he first emerged. Of course, he eventually tired of being a renegade, and released ‘Sorry’ to make us all forget about it.
But for many, the defining image of Justin isn’t the born again Christian. It’s the kid who threatened to kill Deadmau5 while on tour in Sydney.
Yep, as YourEDM notes, the story of Bieber laying a threat at the feet of one of the biggest DJs in the world is once again making the rounds, thanks this time to a post from photographer Rukes.
See, while Deadmau5 was in Sydney, Bieber’s travelling photographer dropped by to hand the DJ a present: a signed photograph of the ‘Baby’ singer, emblazoned with the message, “I will kill you.”
Years later, Deadmau5 went on the popular YouTube podcast H3H3 to discuss the incident.
Sadly, rather than keeping the photograph or framing it or getting it as a tattoo, the DJ revealed he had instead left it in the dressing room at the venue, because he was — understandably — “spooked”.
“I mean, a threat from Justin Bieber,” Deadmau5 said on the podcast, eyes flashing. “I swear to God.”
Wilder still, the signed photograph was the first interaction between the two — as Ethan from H3H3 pointed out at the time, it was the young singer’s way of “breaking the ice.”
Guess that’s the way that you behave when you’re surrounded by a pop music machine designed to fulfil every single one of your whims — while it still has use for you, that is.
