Look at all those glorious, environmentally-responsible butts.

The G20 is this weekend, and the historic climate change deal reached between the US and China at the APEC summit on Wednesday means Australia is already looking like the kid who bought a stack of Pokemon cards when everyone’s already moved on to Beyblades (friggin’ love dem Beyblades, man). “Environment” “Minister” Greg Hunt’s response to the news that the world’s two great carbon emitters are finally moving to tackle climate change was about as enthusiastic as your dog’s face when it hears the word “vet”.

So to honour the current government’s position on climate change, environmental group 350 Australia staged a little event on Sydney’s Bondi Beach, if by “event” you mean “got a few hundred people to stick their heads in the sand and wave their butts in the air”.

Look at all those glorious, environmentally-responsible butts. Look at them, waving majestically in the breeze like a fleet of solar-powered Skywhales. Some people even pulled down their pants to reveal bright-red budgie smugglers, because some people embrace life to its fullest.

“As a solar PV entrepreneur frustrated by our government’s shortsightedness with regards to all things renewable energy, I am embarrassed and disheartened that Australia is taking no action to address the most significant global issue of our time”, organiser Eden Tehan said in a press release. “With the Abbott Government determined to thwart the renewable energy industry and address climate change with pronouncements like ‘coal is good for humanity’, I felt it was not only time to speak out, but that hundreds of Australians would want to join me in the effort.”

More protests should embrace the power of the butt. If it’s good enough for Tina Belcher, by God it’s good enough for you.
