“Terrifying In Every Way”: Netflix Just Dropped Their Scariest Film Yet
Your Halloween viewing is here.
Halloween feels different this year, mostly on account of the fact that 2020 has been one long slog through horror, depression and malaise all on its own.
But hey, that shouldn’t stop you from celebrating the best holiday of the year. And what better way to do that than kicking back with a good old-fashioned chiller?
Enter His House, a 2020 Netflix original that has been described as one of the most unsettling projects that the streaming service has yet released.
Following a family of South Sudanese refugees as they set up camp in a new country only to discover they have been followed by some very vengeful forces, it’s a supernatural thriller that leans heavily on atmosphere and less on outright gore. That makes it perfect viewing for those who struggle with “stabby movies”, but still want some genuine jumps.
And His House definitely features a lot of those. In a glowing review for Vulture, Bilge Ebiri highlights the film’s sense of creeping dread. “What a relief it is in this day and age to watch a horror movie where the filmmakers have given as much thought to what will scare the viewer as to What It All Means,” Ebiri writes.
And he’s not the only one, either. At the moment the film is sitting on a 100% fresh at Rotten Tomatoes. So what excuse do you have to not get involved?
His House is streaming on Netflix now. Watch the trailer for the film here:
