Prepare Your Dacks: An Extended Version of ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ Is Coming Soon
Ready for some ghosts?
The Haunting of Hill House was one of the best shows of 2018, a ripe serve of intelligent melodrama that also happened to be scary as all hell.
In fact, the limited miniseries was so good that Netflix decided it shouldn’t be so limited after all. Though the first season neatly wrapped up the story of the Crains, a broken family haunted by the horrors of their past, a new series is already underway.
This second serve of spine-chilling viciousness will be based on another classic horror tale, this time Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw. Given that book is positively bursting with terrifying spectres and spooky goings-on, viewers who enjoy the living piss being terrified out of them should get excited.
You guessed it. The HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR, a new chapter in the Haunting series based on the works of Henry James, is coming in 2020. pic.twitter.com/nvhRBEfH2E

Not too excited, mind you, given that the second season of the show is some way off — it’s not even gone into active production yet, meaning it’d probably be sensible to expect it to drop around the tale end of 2020.
But what if you’re desperate to have a series of life-disrupting night terrors right goddamn now? Well then you’re in luck, because it’s just been revealed that an extended cut of the series is coming to Blu-ray.
Details are fairly scant at the moment, but the series’ showrunner and director Mike Flanagan has confirmed that the special director’s cut will see him restore episodes “to their original form.” Presumably that’s a reference to needing to edit the thing down to please Netflix execs, so it’d probably be safe to guess that this new version will be longer (and probably scarier).
Well this news got out there a LITTLE earlier than we wanted… but yes, it’s true! More details to come, but it was a blast restoring several episodes to their original form. Hope you all enjoy! https://t.co/svyPirSIMi

The Blu-ray is already available to pre-order on Amazon, which you should absolutely do if you’re keen to get the show that Stephen King called “close to a work of genius” into your eyeballs as soon as possible.
Oh, and those that want more Flanagan are in luck — the man’s adaptation of Doctor Sleep, the sequel to The Shining, is coming to cinemas this October.
