Hannibal Buress was on The Project last night, and it was…pretty weird. Best known for his work in Broad City, his co-hosting gig on The Eric Andre Show, and that viral clip of him calling Bill Cosby a rapist, the comedian and actor was ostensibly on the program to promote his national tour, The Hannibal Montanabal Experience, which kicks off in Sydney on December 1.

But once the cameras started rolling, he seemed far more interested in promoting My First Numbers, a footy-themed kids book that he most definitely didn’t write.

“This is my new book,” Buress insisted, as the audience and the rest of the panel laughed in confusion. He then proceeded to read the entire thing – all fifteen pages – on the air.

In Buress’ defence, he may have still been feeling the effects of the five Adderalls he took to fight through the jet lag.

You can catch Hannibal Buress on stage this week in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane (ticketing info here) and find My First Numbers “everywhere books and underwear are sold.”
