Please Enjoy This Small Tasmanian Town’s Extremely Aggressive Anti-Littering Sign
WHY ARE YOU LITTERING?
Does littering make your blood boil? Do you see trash left in public places and find that it incites a kind of blistering rage? In that case, you’ll love Granville Harbour’s anti-littering signs, which don’t even bother to politely ask that people don’t litter.
See, this small Tasmanian town is clearly past the point of requesting (or even pleading) that people don’t litter. Its anti-littering signs just start by assuming that people have committed the mortal sin of littering, and then proceed to rip the litterer a new one for daring to do so.
“WHY ARE YOU LITTERING?”, the signs demand, providing the reader with four responses to choose from (all are in all caps, which really adds an element of powerful rage to these already-angry signs). The options available to respondents are as follows:
- I AM A JERK
- I DON’T CARE ABOUT NATURAL AREAS
- MUMMY STILL CLEANS UP AFTER ME
- ALL OF THE ABOVE
Of course, there’s no need to actually respond — all four options come with the check-box next to them already ticked, the sign-maker having assumed that anyone who litters must by necessity be a jerk who does not care about natural areas and also depends on their mother for basic cleaning and hygiene-related tasks.
Anyway, thanks to Granville Harbour Community Coast Care Inc for taking a strong stand against trash, and also passing jerks. We hope the sign has been effective.
