It’s tough being Godzilla. You’re too big to be friends with regular-sized humans; too small to be friends with God himself. You’re like a basketball player at a kids’ party, doomed to stomp the Earth alone forever.

Worse still, all the creatures Godzilla’s size are massive, massive dicks, as evidenced in the new trailer for the upcoming Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, the second entry in the newly rebooted Godzilla film series.

Eagle-eyed Godzilla stans will notice that amidst shots of a particularly traumatised looking Millie Bobby Brown, a mean-looking Charles Dance, a stoic Ken Watanabe, and a gently concerned Sally Hawkins, this trailer gives us a look at King Of The Monstersreal stars. You know who I’m talking about: the bug-eyed Mothra, the pterodactyl-ass Rodan, and Godzilla’s long-term arch nemesis King Ghidorah.

The trailer seems to be following in the time-honoured cinematic tradition of making Mothra and Rodan sorta-dicks, and King Ghidorah a massive dick; that’s him and his three mean heads emerging to stare down Godzilla in the final shot of the trailer.

Eagle-eyed Godzilla stans might also notice that this trailer is absolutely brilliant, as was the first trailer that dropped earlier this year.

It looks like director Mike Dougherty (he of the criminally underrated horror flick Trick R’ Treat) is ready to have a whole lotta fun with this one – everything we’ve seen so far about King Of The Monsters promises to be over-the-top anarchy, exactly as any self-respecting creature feature should be.

Oh, and lest we forget, King Of The Monsters is setting us up for an even bigger show-down: a Godzilla versus King Kong movie (inventively titled Godzilla vs. Kong) set to drop in 2020. I’m putting my bets on ole mate Godzilla, for the record: the dude, may I remind you, can spit actual fire.

Godzilla: King Of The Monsters opens in cinemas late May 2019.
