I’ll admit that my memories of the Power Rangers TV show are a little on the fuzzy side, but I definitely don’t remember it being quite this…broody. Not that Batman Begins by way of The Breakfast Club isn’t a movie that I’d be totally happy to watch, but even so, this looks awfully intense.

There’s A New R-Rated NSFW Power Rangers Short Fan Film, And It’s Surprisingly Great

Revealed overnight at New York Comic Con, the first footage from the hotly somewhat anticipated Power Rangers movie is probably more noteworthy for the stuff we don’t see. There’s no Alpha 5, no Megazord, no Bryan Cranston as Zordon, and only the most fleeting glimpse of those weird jelly baby suits the rangers will apparently be wearing. Guess that’s why they call it a teaser.

In any case, what it lacks in actual power ranging it makes up for in a whole buttload of teen feels.

So intense you guys.

The other thing we do get to see, albeit briefly, is an elaborately costumed Elizabeth Banks, who appears to be chewing, swallowing and digesting the scenery as the villainous Rita Repulsa. Good to see that at least someone is staying true to the spirit of the original.

Power Rangers hits cinemas in March 2017.
