On Wednesday, former Labor leader Mark Latham announced that he was joining Pauline Hanson’s One Nation, and then immediately humiliated his new boss on national television when he failed to rock up for a joint interview, leaving her sitting next to an empty chair like an idiot. As first days on the job go, it could have been better.

“I’ve made a huge mistake.”

Fortunately, the team at SBS’s The Feed have since managed to nab an exclusive interview with One Nation’s newest candidate: that exact same chair!

“I’d like to talk to you about your predecessor, Mark Latham … he’s had a long and illustrious career of being fired from jobs in the media for saying offensive things about prominent women and for commenting on the sexuality of high school boys. Is that something you aspire to?” Alex Lee asked the chair.

“And will you be emulating any of his policies, specifically the breaking of a cabbie’s arm, attempting to run over a Channel 7 cameraman, or getting absolutely furious over the movie Birdman?” added Cameron James.

The chair, for its part, stayed silent. Which might actually make it the smartest sounding candidate One Nation has ever fielded.
