Elections are painful.

It is exhausting to support a major party for a month, only to see them fall flat on their face at the very last moment, let down by a leader with all the prowess and charisma of a mound of wet cardboard. It’s also exhausting to be a single issue voter who is concerned about the climate and who knows that even if the mound of wet cardboard had gotten in, we’d still all die in a total environmental collapse in a few short years. Not to mention the disappointment you feel if you’re a supporter of minor parties, or just somebody who wishes that the Australian political discourse could be a little more goddamn relevant — that politicians could stand up and speak to issues that ordinary people face every single day.

So yes, chances are if you’re reading this story, you’re still stinging from last week’s election result. But hey, never fear, the folks over at The Feed have the perfect way to get over the election blues: writing a mean Facebook status!

The short skit is a PSA of sorts: a guide to self-care for the politically downhearted that proves that the only way to make real change in the world is to complain about it to your bubble of likeminded mates for a few days before completely disentangling oneself from politics for another three or so years.

Seriously though: if you are bummed about last week, join your union! Make a donation to your preferred party! Take to the streets the next time that there’s a protest that you care about! Stay informed and enlightened by reading widely and seeking out news stories that affect you and the most vulnerable Australians! Just stop posting to the bubble and stop blaming Queensland and you’ll be fine.
