Hot Chip, Sleaford Mods Lead The Stacked 2020 Farmer & The Owl Line-Up
Some of the most innovative acts in Britain are heading down under for Farmer & The Owl 2020.
The very first instalment of Wollongong’s the Farmer & The Owl festival was as big of a creative risk as they come.
After all, it’s a strange time for festivals in NSW. The government is making it hard for any major music event to remain financially viable, crowds are being scared off, and only the very old, very mainstream festivals are making it through without sweating.
But this year, the gambit paid off big time. Farmer & The Owl 2019 was a true success, as thousands of punters flocked to MacCabe Park to lap up a day of music and good vibes.
Well, get ready, cause by all signs the 2020 iteration of the event will be even bigger, boasting an astonishingly full and diverse line-up — and it’s just the first announce.
British popsmiths Hot Chip are the first cab off the rank, the celebrated group making their long-awaited return to our shores to trot out their disco and Prince-inspired hits.
Next up is Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats, a group of idiosyncratic oddballs from the British underground; Sleaford Mods, a grungy pair of rap pioneers making their very first appearance in Australia; Weyes Blood, a strings-saturated auteur who makes some of the most unique and beautiful indie pop in the world; Miss June, New Zealand’s own punk superstars; and Fat White Family, famous for stripping off during live performances and perfecting a brand of particularly sludgey punk.
Farmer & The Owl hits MacCabe Park on Saturday February 29, with tickets on sale from Friday 18 October at 9am AEDT, via Moshtix. Find the first line-up below, with more to come.
