Fantasy Booklist: What Everyone In Game Of Thrones Is Reading
Are you smarter than a make-believe child who kills things?
Cersei Lannister: Gone Girl
Cersei’s really had a raw deal when it comes to marriage. As if it wasn’t bad enough being married to a fat drunk like Robert Baratheon, who called out another woman’s name in the sack, her dad’s scheme to secure their ties with House Tyrell and thereby access their overflowing coffers hinged on Cersei being repurposed as Ser Loras’ bride. Though she’s been known to enjoy a younger man in her four-poster bed, Cersei drew the line at being wed to someone who bats for the other team (they don’t call him the Knight of Flowers for nothing). No stranger to a plot, Cersei fantasises about being a wife like Amy in Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl, who fakes her own murder and frames her husband into the bargain. Although with her dad out of the picture, things might be looking up for Cersei.
