Every year, it seems like an act accidentally lets it slip they’re playing an Australian festival months before they’re supposed to. Especially when they’re on live radio, as their handler can’t step in — and even when acts think they’re being coy, sleuths are pretty good at figuring out which festival they’re playing. Which is why it seems that Halsey is coming to Falls Festival.

During an interview earlier this week with NovaFM host Smallzy (via Music Feeds), it seems like Halsey gave a few too many clues about her plans to next tour Australia. At first, she was vague, promising “a few things… at different timelines”, before saying “some of them are big and national and exciting, and some of them are more local.”

Smallzy pressed her on those ‘big’ plans, and she may have given it away. “This is so big and — I can’t tell you when, and I can’t tell you what — but it’s something I’ve done before and that I’m excited to do again,” she said. “But it’ll be better and bigger this time!”

So, what has Halsey played before that’s national? Well, she had her own national tour last year off the back of sophomore album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, and popped by this February for some small shows with Yungblud when they released ’11 Minutes’, their single together. They even hit up triple j for a wonderful ‘Like A Version’ of a Death Cab For Cutie classic, which, while huge for ’00s nostalgia, probably isn’t what she’s referencing.

Halsey has played Falls Festival before though, back in 2015/16, and while she followed it up with a Field Day slot, that’s not national. Ergo, it almost definitely is Falls — sure, we could be wrong, but we also correctly guessed Splendour’s ‘mystery Oz act’ was Ocean Alley, so we’re pretty confident.

We should find out the full line-up in a few months time; last year, it was announced at the end of August. Watch this space, and see Halsey’s full interview with Smallzy below.
