‘Fallout 76’ Players Are Getting Classic Fallout Games Free
Despite its post-apocalyptic setting, Fallout 76 has evolved into a game about community, love and sharing. This weekend, developer Bethesda embraced peace in the wasteland and goodwill among players by announcing it will give away three previous games in the series for free.
Bethesda announced via Twitter that owners of Fallout 76 who log into the game before the end of the year will be given the Fallout Classic Collection for free. Though these games are only available on PC, you don’t have to have Fallout 76 on the platform to take advantage of this offer. Players who have the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are also included, so nobody gets left behind or forgotten.
ANYONE who logged into the full release of #Fallout76 in 2018 will receive an entitlement for Fallout Classic Collection on PC. This applies to Xbox One and PS4 players, too.
The entitlement is expected to go live in early January. pic.twitter.com/U8pJwrk0PV

The Fallout Classic Collection is a bundle of games comprised of the original Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics. It’s currently only $8.98 on PC due to the Steam Winter Sale, but is typically listed at $29.95. Even so, free games are always welcome, never mind that’s only saving $9.
Fallout kicked off the franchise in 1997, and is widely considered one of the best games in the series. Set 84 years after a global nuclear war has destroyed much of civilisation as we know it, your character ventures into the wasteland after their fallout shelter’s water purifier malfunctions.
In contrast to Fallout 76, the games in the Fallout Classic Collection are single-player, and are framed from a top-down isometric view. Combat in Fallout and Fallout 2 is also turn-based rather than real time, so you can take your time deciding which raider you’d like to shoot in the head. It’s a much less fast-paced experience, for those who don’t want the stress of fumbling with their weapon while being charged by a super mutant.
The free games are scheduled to be distributed early next month, when we’ll be stumbling the wasteland of post-New Year celebrations.
