Jaymes Todd, the 19-year-old Melbourne man accused of murdering comedian Eurydice Dixon, has pleaded guilty in court.

In Melbourne Magistrate’s court this afternoon, Todd pleaded guilty to the rape and murder of the 22-year-old which allegedly occurred in the early hours of June 13 this year, as Ms. Dixon was walking home.

The incident, which allegedly took place on a soccer pitch in the inner-north Melbourne suburb of Princes Hill caused national outcry at another woman’s life taken at the hands of a man, with thousands attending candlelit vigils in the days following.

Todd, who handed himself in to police the same day as a passerby discovered Ms. Dixon’s body, reportedly leant into the microphone and said “Guilty, your Honour” when asked for a plea.

The ABC reports that Magistrate Sue Cameron has said there is “sufficient evidence to support a conviction of Todd”.

His trial continues and we’ll update you as further news becomes apparent.
