The Entire Aussie Music Industry Cameos In This Insane Sketch About Doomed Eurovision Hopefuls
Everyone from Shannon Noll to Murray the Red Wiggle makes an appearance.
Remember Vic and Jenna, the Eurovision hopefuls whose incredible music career was cut short by a serious of mishaps and mismanagement, most of them involving velcro?
Well, if you don’t remember the story of the definitely real musicians, who are definitely not fictitious characters cooked up in an incredible sketch from comic duo Freudian Nip for The Feed, then why not jog your memory with this video, which goes over their sordid story in its every agonising, Kate Miller-Heidke saturated detail?
Oh, and if you need any more convincing, how about the fact that it features cameos from basically every single person in the Australian music industry, from John Butler, to Zan Rowe, to Shannon Noll, to the Red Wiggle himself, Murray Cook?
Starting with a look at Jenna and Vic’s heyday, spent writing such Aussie classics as ‘Big Red Car’ and ‘Fruit Salad’ while double dating Ben and Liam of Triple J, the short documentary You’re A Vision then unpacks the terrible moment that sent them down a darker path — the day their velcro-lined costumes malfunctioned, leaving them pinned to each other and the floor.
Their dreams dashed, the pair wallowed in self pity, lashing out against their manager, their friends, and the music industry at large. But this isn’t just a sordid story of Tonya Harding-esque sabotage and velcro costumes that rebel and defy their owners. Ultimately, You’re A Vision is the story of redemption; of two women who learned the power of supporting one another before settling their differences with the unfortunate cards that they have been dealt.
Oh, and big dresses. Can’t forget big dresses.
Watch You’re A Vision in full, below. It’s eight minutes long, but there’s no way it’s not immediately improving your day.
