Ed Banger Records Just Dropped A Lush Orchestral Album Of All Your Fave Tracks
We didn't realise we needed a 70-person orchestral rendition of 'D.A.N.C.E', but we did.
To celebrate fifteen years of era-shaping dance music, Ed Banger records has released an album transforming its biggest tracks into sweeping orchestral works.
Back in March, Orchestre Lamoreux reworked tunes from Justice, Mr. Oizo, SebastiAn, Breakbot, Busy P and heaps more in a huge 70-musician live concert at Paris’ Grand Rex, conducted by Thomas Roussel — you can watch the full performance below if you want. Now, they’ve gone and recorded 27 renditions for Ed Banger 15 Ans.
As you’d expect from an anthology, the song choices catalogue the label’s influence across the years. Think of it more as a medley, as the album intertwines songs and performs artists’ hits in brackets — ending, of course, on a massive 20 minutes dedicated to the all-eclipsing Justice.
But it’s not just the essentials that have been included: there’s a heap of overlooked tracks on there too. For instance, we never thought we’d hear an orchestra turn Uffie’s ‘Pop The Glock’ into an ominous woodwind nightmare, but we’re glad it exists.
You can find the full album wherever you stream music. Now, how about announcing a Sweet 16th World Tour for next year?
