Anyone who’s ever broken a bad habit knows that it can be hard to do it alone. Luckily, you don’t have to.

Queensland Health is on a mission to help locals live their healthiest, happiest lives. They want to help you identify and kick your unhealthy habits – especially the ones you didn’t realise were actually bad for you.

One part of that mission is the new Dump The Junk website, which has lots of surprising facts about what junk food, sugary drinks, long gaming and binge-watching sessions, and not getting enough exercise are doing to your health. But it also tells you how you can break those bad habits.

For example, you might spend your weekends grinding to rank up in your favourite game or bingeing the shows you’ve been seeing all over Twitter. That’s a huge mood, but spending too much time plonked in front of a screen and too little time moving around can lead to diabetes, anxiety, poor sleep, or even blood clots.

And you probably (I’m actually gonna say “hopefully”) know that a bad diet can lead to weight gain, but you might not know that too much sugar can cause acne, diet soft drinks can upset your stomach, and snacking on junk food can make you feel more tired by the end of the day.

Queensland Health’s Dump the Junk website encourages you to end your unhealthy habits by providing information and small steps you can take that help lead to a healthier lifestyle.

It’s a great way to check in on yourself and find out how you can live a happier and healthier life.
