Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign was never going to be easy — it’s a crowded field, the establishment hates him and it’s hard to convince Hispanic voters to support you after you call them all “rapists”.

But overcoming those difficulties like the intrepid human camel he is, Trump has topped the last few polls of Republican candidates and looks set to outlast more than a few of his rivals. Keeping the momentum going, Trump tweeted out a new campaign poster to rally the faithful earlier today, featuring all the patriotic staples: his face superimposed on a fluttering American flag, stacks of fat cash, Nazi Waffen-SS soldiers marching through a field. Standard fare.

It took people about five minutes to notice that the uniforms those soldiers in the bottom right-hand corner are wearing have never been part of any US military outfit. Turns out the image, which comes from stock photo company iStock, depicts military re-enactors dressed as soldiers from the Nazi Waffen-SS — something the poor, soon-to-be-fired intern who picked the picture to use in the Trump campaign neglected to pick up.

The poster has since been taken down, but not before Trump’s campaign became the world’s punchline for the umpteenth time in the last six weeks.

Did I mention this guy is leading the polls as Republicans’ preferred candidate? Because that’s kind of important.
