A new advertising campaign aims to educate Australian workers on where the line between casual conversation and sexual harassment lies.

The ‘Know Where The Line Is‘ campaign is a joint initiative between the Australian Human Rights Commission, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Australian Council of Trade Unions. The advertisements were created by Sydney-based firm YOLO, who were apparently named by your sixteen-old brother, because #YOLO.

That such a base-level educational campaign needs to exist at all is a sad indictment of our current culture. One in four Australian women have experienced harassment at work, with the Human Rights Commission reporting one in five complaints received under the ‘Sex Discrimination Act 1984’ relate to sexual harassment.

Anything that highlights the prevalence of this issue is obviously welcome, but as with most campaigns of this ilk, those who need to be targeted probably won’t fundamentally change their behaviour off the back of some semi-clever wordplay.
