BookTok’s Fave Romance Author Has A New Page-Turner
BookTok, brace yourselves: Hannah Grace’s latest romance novel is here. It’s called Wildfire and its spicy plot is about to take up your every waking thought for the foreseeable future.
It’s wild to think that earlier this year we hadn’t even been introduced to the words of Hannah Grace. The writer published her first book back in February, and proceeded to light the literary scene up, big time. On release, Icebreaker hit Number 5 in the top 10 bestselling books sold in Australia; #hannahgrace was everywhere on TikTok (videos with these similar tags now have a combined 275 million views on the app); and the novel managed to spark a noticeable resurgence in women who love watching ice hockey.
For the few who haven’t read it yet, Icebreaker follows two single-minded athletes — a hockey captain and an ice skater — who are forced to share the rink, and inevitably go from reluctant acquaintances to much more, with plenty of twists and turns along the way.
Hannah’s next novel, Wildfire, doesn’t have the same ‘rivals to lovers’ thing, instead exploring sexy-as-hell tropes like forbidden romance and forced proximity (it’s set at a summer camp, you get the idea). The book is number two in the ‘Maple Hills’ series, meaning it’s set in the same world as Icebreaker, but it’s a standalone story — the main characters are different and you don’t have to have read Icebreaker to get stuck into Wildfire. (Though, naturally, we’d recommend it.)
The book transports readers to a summer camp in America. Here, two counsellors unexpectedly reconnect after a very memorable one-night stand, which went down in the days before the camp kicked off. It’s not exactly an ideal situation in which to find yourself pining after someone (camp rules, and all) but soon, sparks begin to fly… What happens next? You’ll just have to read and find out.
What’s cool about Hannah’s books is how current they feel. Her (non-toxic) characters represent a range of lived experiences, are sex-positive and find themselves in the most spicy of situations we can all relate to, yet the plot still hits that dreamy, Heartstopper-esque classic romance feel. Fans of authors like Emily Henry, Elena Armas, Christina Lauren and Ali Hazelwood will particularly love Wildfire. Also, if ‘exile’ is your favourite Taylor Swift song, our gut is telling us you’ll also ride or die hard for this book.
Wildfire by Hannah Grace is available now on paperback, eBook and audiobook.
