Here’s Everything We Know About the New Billie Eilish Album, ‘Happier Than Ever’
It's called 'Happier Than Ever', and it drops despicably soon.
It’s been two long years since Billie Eilish took over the world.
The singer-songwriter was already a star before 2019, of course — she first captured the attention of those in the know four years earlier, after uploading her song ‘Ocean Eyes’ to Soundcloud — but it was ‘Bad Guy’ that really took her influence to the next level, turning her from a bedroom pop act to the bona fide real deal.
Now, Eilish is ready to solidify that global status with a new album, Happier Than Ever. Sure, the album’s only just been announced, but the thing’s been teased for over a year now, so we already know a fair amount about how it’s going to sound.
The Album Is “The Favourite Thing” Billie Eilish Has Ever Done
For a start, Eilish’s co-writer and brother, Finneas, claimed in a 2020 interview that the album would be similar in its simplicity to Eilish’s debut, describing it as “pretty pure in its intention”. Elsewhere, Eilish herself described it as sounding exactly as she wants it to. In the Instagram post she used to announce the album, she called it her “favourite project”.
“This is my favorite thing I’ve ever created and I am so excited and nervous and EAGER for you to hear it,” Eilish wrote on Instagram, as reported by Rolling Stone. “I can’t even tell you. I’ve never felt so much love for a project than I do for this one. Hope you feel what I feel.”
Happier Than Ever Is A Behemoth
Happier Than Ever also boasts a massive tracklist. At 16 songs long, it’s the biggest thing that Eilish has ever released. We’ve heard two of the singles from the album already — ‘My Future’ and ‘Therefore I Am’ — but there’s a bunch of material that still hasn’t been released out into the world.
The New Album Is Dropping In A Matter of Months
As to when the album actually drops, we don’t have long to wait: the thing will hit the figurative shelves on July 30. And if you’re still feeling impatient, then never fear — there’ll be a new single dropping tomorrow, April 29. Make no mistake: It’s a good time to be a Billie Eilish fan.
