Australia’s Liz Cambage Just Became The Highest Scoring Olympian At Rio
She scored a massive 37 points against Japan.
The Opals staged a stunning comeback this morning to defeat Japan and score their fourth consecutive win in the women’s basketball competition at the Rio 2016 Olympic games. The real hero of the match was Liz Cambage, who scored an incredible 37 points, half of them in the final quarter of the match, to propel Australia into a winning position.
Cambage’s incredible result makes her the highest scoring basketball player at the Rio Games. Take that, so-called “Dream Team”!
37 – @BasketballAus #AUS Elizabeth Cambage’s 37 points vs. #JPN are the most by any male or female basketball player at #Rio2016. Splendid.

The Opals victory comes after Australia’s men’s team narrowly lost out to the US yesterday. Maybe if they were called the “Millennials” instead of the Boomers, they might do better? Ba-dum tish.
According to The Roar, Cambage’s score is third highest ever recorded by a woman at the Olympics, and the highest score in more than a quarter of a century. Onya Liz.
Hard fought out win by the #Opals down 16 at 3/4 time to win by 6 over Japan.. @lizcambage with 37 points. ???

In other heart warming Olympics news, Fiji won their first ever gold medal, defeating Britain in the men’s Rugby Sevens’s. It’s also the first time a small Pacific Island nation has ever won Olympic gold. A great day all round for the Southern Hemisphere!
